An Invitation

27th January 2021 By GerryBurke

SING TOGETHER !

You are invited to join us in a series of singing sessions designed to involve older people and carers during these lockdown times.  We believe this activity will raise spirits and help us to remain positive and more confident in ourselves.  These sessions are free – supported by Dementia Pathfinders and their Dementia Conversations group based in Bowdon Vale Home | Dementia Pathfinders

The sessions will be organised and led by Kathryn Rowland who is a professional musician and experienced in work with older people. Her charity is called ‘All in Sound’   www.allinsound.co.uk and she also founded Sing! Choirs https://www.singchoirs.com/  .  Sessions will be hosted by Kathryn on Zoom. You will need to be able to receive Zoom on a computer or tablet or something similar. Please log in by 10.50am – The main activities will begin at 11am and run until about 11.45.

There are six sessions, all on a Thursday:

18 February, then 25 February

4 March, then 11 March, followed by 18 March and finally 25 March

Please put them all in your diary.

If you wish to join in please contact Dave Jolley as soon as possible by e-mailing  dessjol@yahoo.co.uk or telephoning 07976018418.  He will then register you for the sessions with Kathryn who will confirm your registration and send links for each session. There are limited places – so hurry!

Speaking Out

There are some things which just have to be said.  We have to speak out because at the heart of the Christian message is our belief that God is not silent.  God has spoken through creation itself and the evolving universe; through the human story; through the dwelling of Jesus Christ in time; through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the Church and in each believer; through the inspiration of the scriptures; and through the wisdom and the teaching of the Church through the ages.

We use words all the time.  Words of welcome.  Words of wisdom.  Words of warmth.  Words of warning.  Words of wistfulness.  Our words are wasted if words are just words.   In the beginning was the Word.  And the Word was with God.  And the Word was God.  Through him all things came to be, not one thing had its being but through him.   The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. The Word made things happen.

As Christians, as followers of the Word, we do something about what we have heard.  Our own best words are our actions.

Please tell us what you would like us to Speak Out about by contacting:  info@ccoa.org.uk

Lent – the road to Easter

A blessing on those who put their trust in the Lord, with the Lord for their hope.  They are like trees by the waterside, thrusting their roots to the stream: when the heat comes they feel no alarm, the foliage stays green and there are no worries in a time of drought and they never cease to bear fruit.

Jeremiah 17: 8 – 9
