Initiatives from Care Homes Friends
Care Home Connections
After a successful crowdfunding campaign we now have available free Alexa devices to enable relatives to connect with their loved ones in care homes, without the need for staff to supervise each call (which is what tends to happen with video devices). An Alexa device is a smart speaker, enabling the relative to call their loved ones, without the care home resident needing to pick up a phone, or physically press a button to answer. So it’s ideal for residents with visual problems, physical limitations, or memory loss.
An article in the Baptist Times about it.

Carers Together
This is a new project to support informal carers and connect them with others in similar situations. There will be weekly facilitated zoom meetings where carers will be able to chat in small groups, hear regular guest speakers and there will also be opportunities for prayer, if carers would like that. The Zoom meetings start on Thursday 21st January at 3pm.
