A ready source of help and support
Marion Shoard, a member of the committee at Christians on Ageing, and a noted writer on issues of interest to older people, has a letter in The Guardian today about supporting older people and others who become subject to self-isolation as a consequence of the coronavirus phenomenon. Churches and other faith communities are well placed to identify people in this situation, to offer and provide practical help and to reduce their risk of feeling alone:

Reducing inequalities
There is also a letter from 18 signatories, followed by one from Jeremy Beecham which are urging changes to spending to reduce inequality and to improve the circumstances of the poor and marginalised. They argue that this will have overall benefits for the whole of our society – certainly including older people. Baron Beecham states clearly that one requirement which will have systemic benefits, is a return to adequate funding of local government
