Statement from Christians on Ageing about the death of Pope Francis
We join with people everywhere – and particularly our sisters and brothers in the Roman Catholic Church – in giving thanks to God for the life, ministry and witness of Pope Francis.
For Christians on Ageing, Francis’ focus on those living in the peripheries of society served as a reminder that older people all too often fall into this category. Likewise, his willingness to answer a call to high office in his late 70’s highlights the long-life discipleship to which many are called, and we give thanks for his faithful exercise of that discipleship right up until the end. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
