What the papers said in the week ending June 24th
We have to designate this, Windrush Week. June 22nd was Windrush Day, celebrating 75 years since the arrival of people on that vessel. The week began with the astonishing and unacceptable news that The Home Office had decided to discontinue its unit to deal with the support, recognition and recompense of Windrush survivors. There is a reaction to this which Christians on Ageing must support. The Guardian carried a series of articles which illustrate the dignity and the contributions made to life in this country by The Windrush Generation and their families. There are also accounts of how shabbily many of them have been treated. It is to our great shame.
